Hazelcast Platform Features

Enterprise Edition vs. Community Edition

Innovate more, worry less. Focus on business value by building applications on Hazelcast Platform and spend less time on maintenance effort.

For mission critical applications, we strongly recommend Hazelcast Enterprise edition. Learn Why

Core Hazelcast Capabilities

The key core Hazelcast Platform capabilities in the table below are available in both the Enterprise Edition and the Community Edition.

Enterprise EditionCommunity Edition

Distributed Compute

SQL Querying

Distributed Data Storage

Stream Processing

Out-of-the-Box Connectors to Third-Party Data Platforms

Thread Per Core (TCP) Engine

Connector API for Integration with Custom Data Platforms

Strong Consistency

Hazelcast Platform provides tunable consistency so that the cluster can be configured to support use cases that require guaranteed, up-to-date data while still meeting high performance requirements.

Enterprise EditionCommunity Edition

Advanced CP Subsystem. Enforce strong consistency on various data types, including maps, longs, integers, locks, etc., with the Raft Consensus Algorithm.

CP Subsystem Persistence Recover your strongly consistent data structures quickly after a cluster-wide shutdown due to failures such as site-wide power loss.

Security

The Hazelcast Security Suite offers authentication, authorization, auditing, and encryption capabilities to protect data from unauthorized access.

Enterprise EditionCommunity Edition

Emergency Patches. Fixes to urgent issues will be available in patch releases (e.g., 5.4.1, 5.4.2). CVE fixes will be delivered within our SLA schedule depending on severity. For the Community Edition, fixes will be rolled up in the next major and minor (e.g., 5.5, 6.0) Hazelcast Platform releases.

Java Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS). Leverage the standards-based, role-based access control system to protect data.

SSL/TLS for over-the-wire encryption. Protect network-transmitted data between any Hazelcast entity (applications or members) from eavesdroppers.

TLS Mutual Authentication. Enable each side of a connection in a Hazelcast Platform deployment to provide identity via X.509 certificates.

Socket Interceptor API. Add security code as an additional verification layer on a client connecting to a cluster.

Security Interceptor API. Add security code to filter remote operations, to enable capabilities like cell-level security.

Business Continuity

All the capabilities you need to run a business-critical, 24/7 operation, safeguarding against disasters while also minimizing planned maintenance downtime.

Enterprise EditionCommunity Edition

WAN Replication with Automatic Client Failover. With Hazelcast WAN Replication, enable a robust disaster recovery strategy with incremental, cross-data-center replication that supports your low recovery point objectives (RPO). Automatic Client Failover switches clients from the primary cluster to the disaster recovery cluster automatically to support  low recovery time objectives (RTO).

Persistence (Hot Restart). Restart your deployment quickly after a cluster-wide shutdown due to failures such as site-wide power loss.

Dynamic Config Persistence. Preserve all ad hoc configuration changes even after site-wide outages.

Rolling Upgrades. Rolling Upgrades lets you upgrade your Hazelcast software one member at a time on a running cluster while avoiding a complete cluster shutdown (compatible within a major Hazelcast release version, e.g., 5.3 -> 5.4, not 4.1 -> 5.0).

Cluster Client Filtering for Blue/Green Deployments. Support a blue/green deployment strategy that lets you return to the previous working cluster should a problem in the upgraded hardware be discovered.

Job Upgrade. Seamlessly upgrade a running stream processing job with no downtime and no data loss.

Lossless Recovery. Recover stream processing jobs from a site-wide disaster without any data loss.

Higher Performance and Scale

Grow your deployments in a simplified, cost-effective way.

Enterprise EditionCommunity Edition

Thread Per Core (TPC) Engine. Significant improvements in resource allocation for CPU cores results in higher performance and scale by eliminating the overhead of context-switching.

High-Density Memory Store. Hazelcast High-Density Memory Store adds “off-heap” storage to your deployment to significantly increase data storage per member, without adding housekeeping disruptions like Java garbage collection pauses, to reduce the hardware footprint and deployment complexity.

Tiered Storage. Allows members to support larger-than-memory data sets with flow-to-disk (SSD) ability.

Management Center on Unlimited Members. Expand usage of Hazelcast Management Center to support more than the 3 members allowed in Hazelcast OSS.

Management and Monitoring

Enterprise EditionCommunity Edition

Enterprise Operator. Manage your Hazelcast Platform deployments on Kubernetes using our supported operator.

Helm Charts. Manage your Hazelcast Platform deployments on Kubernetes using the community-driven Helm Chart.

Third-Party Monitoring Integration. Allow monitoring with popular third-party tools via integrations with clustered REST/JMX and Prometheus.

Professional Support
