New 5.5

Jet Job Placement Control

Run Jet Jobs on specific compute resources

Distribute workloads to improve business outcomes

Jet Job Placement Control allows users to isolate and focus the compute component of Hazelcast Platform independently from the storage component. This allows compute jobs to be executed on specific nodes (Lite nodes), making the deployment of Hazelcast Platform more versatile and improving its resiliency for compute-heavy processing.

Examples of workloads that are likely to benefit include pipelines that compute embeddings and ML inference pipelines.

Enables scaling compute capacity without repartitioning

  • Lite members ONLY perform compute - they don't store data or own partitions.
  • 5.5 adds ability to dedicate Lite members for compute or stream processing.

Features and Benefits

Easily Control, Create and Submit Jobs using JobBuilder API

Use the JobBuilder API to define:

  • Job configuration and parameters
  • Pipeline or DAG
  • Node selection criteria

Execute Compute Jobs on Hazelcast Platform Lite Members

Assign AI and similar compute intensive workloads to nodes that only perform compute tasks.

Control Resource Usage on a Job-by-Job Basis

Define resource allocation at the lowest level of granularity to optimize the use of compute resources available.
