Speedment, Hazelcast Partner to Accelerate Application Development

Auto DB Integration improves developer productivity when pairing in-memory data grids with legacy databases

Palo Alto, Calif., May 6, 2019 – Speedment, a leading provider of database acceleration software, and Hazelcast, the leading in-memory computing platform, today announced a partnership focused on accelerating application development for developers deploying in-memory data grids on top of existing databases. With the partnership, developers will be able to leverage Speedment’s Auto DB Integration as a means of streamlining application development.

The integration tool removes the need to manually propagate the changes of the underlying database schema into the Java application and in-memory data grid. This is accomplished by the automatic generation of a Java domain model for the given database with Plain Old Java Objects (POJOs), serialization and more.

“The Auto DB Integration tool further simplifies the deployment of Hazelcast when legacy databases are present but no longer capable of providing the necessary performance and scale,” said Greg Luck, chief technology officer for Hazelcast. “This partnership automates some of the tedious intricacies of deployments and reduces the potential for errors, which could cut maintenance costs. I’m especially excited by the possibilities this partnership has for our new managed service, Hazelcast Cloud.”

The tool has been designed to load data with maximum speed in Hazelcast Cloud, regardless if the cluster sitting on the same network or in another region. Moreover, Auto DB Integration removes the need to include the domain model in Hazelcast Cloud and thereby greatly simplifies the deployment.

“We are delighted to work with Hazelcast and to enable developers to set up Hazelcast applications up to 100 times faster,” said Carina Dreifeldt, CEO of Speedment, Inc. “Since many enterprise projects involve hundreds and even thousands of tables, automating the process of writing and maintaining a domain model will significantly shorten time-to-market.”

The Auto DB Integration is compatible with any relational database, as well as most standard database column types, including Binary and Character Large Object (BLOB and CLOB). This feature is available with many Hazelcast Enterprise functions, including High-Density Memory Store, Hot Restart Store, Management Center and IMDG Striim Hot Cache.
