Hazelcast collaborates with IBM to boost Real-Time Data Solutions on Mainframe
70% of all global financial transactions go through the IBM mainframe that has industry leading availability of 8x9s — equivalent to 315ms of downtime per year 1! IBM LinuxONE and Linux on Z are modern platforms that are vital for 71% of Fortune 500 companies today. To help these enterprises leverage and build on their existing transaction processing investment, we are thrilled to announce expanded partnership between Hazelcast and IBM LinuxONE and Linux on Z. Hazelcast drives real-time data processing and automation on IBM’s iconic mainframe — fully engineered for the AI Age – by providing critical capabilities such as data caching, data integration, and distributed computing.

Why this partnership matters
IBM LinuxONE and Linux on Z are one of the world’s most performant, economical and trusted open platform for mission-critical transaction processing and data-intensive enterprise workloads. Powered by the new IBM Telum® II processor, the new generation of the LinuxONE servers help enterprises unleash the power of generative AI on their data to fuel innovation and growth. IBM mainframes also enable innovations such quantum safe encryption and AI-powered security to safeguard the most important data. Hazelcast is a unified real-time data platform that combines in-memory data grid, stream processing, distributed compute and event-driven architecture. It enables sub-millisecond data access for low-latency and high-throughput applications. Together, Hazelcast’s lightning-fast data processing on high-speed, latency-optimized and energy-efficient IBM LinuxONE and Linux on Z supercharge enterprises in their digital transformation and optimization journey.
As our clients build, scale and manage their applications, this partnership will enable them to solve challenges in distributed environments such as:
- Performance Bottlenecks in Data Access
- Scalability for Growing Data and User Base
- Data Availability and Reliability
- Complex Distributed Computing Needs
- Handling Real-Time Event Processing
- Data Consistency Across Systems
- Simplifying Integration in Complex IT Environments
- Reducing Costs for High-Performance Applications
- Managing Latency in Global Applications
- Accelerating AI and Machine Learning Workloads
Better together: Delivering business value to our customers jointly
Integration of Hazelcast’s real-time data capabilities on IBM LinuxONE and Linux on Z can help address complex business challenges such as:
- Low-latency caching. When the current database access does not meet throughput and latency requirements, caching can be used to improve performance. Hosting Hazelcast on LinuxONE and Linux on IBM Z could minimize network hops. Data could stay within the system’s high-speed internal memory, reducing latency compared to fetching it from an external cluster over a network.
- Real-time payments and banking. Instant payments, real time offers, containing expenses are key requirements when expanding core banking functionality into new channels etc. The two technologies turbo charge business critical applications to run in a secure and resilient environment with scale, timeliness, and throughput.
- Real-time fraud detection. Payment processing often entails a series of computations to determine the validity of a payment request and the optimal routing of a transaction across payment partners. With many payment workloads running on mainframe and leveraging its advanced AI capabilities, Hazelcast can be used to accelerate complex operations including sophisticated machine learning-based fraud algorithms to reduce fraud loss. For example, in credit card fraud management, where responsiveness is critical and results need to be generated within 50 milliseconds, Hazelcast can be used as online feature store at inferencing, to aid in meeting stringent performance requirement.
Together, Hazelcast’s high-performance data technologies and IBM LinuxONE and Linux on Z platforms help unlock new value from clients’ existing and future infrastructure and investments, empowering enterprises to create the next wave of innovation in hybrid, multi-cloud environments.
